The States parties to the Covenant must submit a report every five years. The Committee shows a great interest in the input of national NGOs. It therefore recommended that States make their reports fully public and available to national NGOs well in advance of the Committee’s examination which takes place at public meetings.
As of 26 January 2010 the follwing African states have ratified the Convenant:
Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, The Congo, The Democratic Republic Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Egypt, Ethiopia, Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, The Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Swaziland, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, The Sudan, Tunisia, The United Republic of Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe
