Engagement of NGOs in the Consideration of Periodic Reports to CEDAW

Every State party to the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women has to submit a report to the Committee every four years indicating the measures taken.

The Committee has the possibility to invite specialized agencies of the United Nations system to present reports and NGOs which can provide information to the Committee at the meetings of the working group before session or even at plenary session.

It is therefore useful to transmit all relevant information on the discrimination against women to local NGOs which can transmit it to the Committee for the consideration of the periodic report of the State concerned.
