Engagement of NGOs in the Consideration of Periodic Reports to CRPD

The NGOs play an important role before the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. They are heard before the session of considering the periodic reports of every country and invited to submit written information.

The individuals who are victims of violations of the Convention can report their situation to the local and international NGOs which transmit the information to the States and the Committee. All States parties of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities are under the obligation to provide periodic reports.

African States having ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

As of 26 January 2010, the following African States have ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities:

Algeria, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Guinea, Gabon, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Namibia, The Niger, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, The Sudan, Tunisia, The United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda
