After reports criticizing the post-electoral process, two Ethiopian journalists working for the German radio station Deutsche Welle had to return their accreditations. The Director-General of the radio station went to Ethiopia where he met the Minister for Information. Afterwards, the German Government took an official diplomatic démarche at the minister’s office. As a result the two journalists obtained new accreditations.
Also in Ethiopia, the Ambassador Donors Group, which consists of numerous governments of the EU and the European Commission, has declared publicly that it will continue to demand the release of members of the civil society still in detention.
