The "conventional procedures" of the treaty bodies of UN human rights conventions and the procedures of the Human Rights Council are the best known, but of course not the only mechanisms of the UN system available for claiming human rights.
The UNESCO General Conference has established an individual complaint procedure in 1978. It covers the human rights covered by the mandate of UNESCO, i.e education, science, culture and communication. This procedure is special compared with other UN mechanisms, since it is fully confidential.
The UN Economic and Social Council has a special complaint procedure as well, related to its Commission on the Status of Women. The Commission aims at detecting tendencies and world-wide patterns concerning the rights of women.
Several articles in the constitution of the International Labour Organization foresee the possibility to file complaints in case of breaches on labour rights. Such complaints can however not be filed by individuals.
